AMAALA Project Makes Construction Progress

Red Sea Global’s highly anticipated AMAALA wellness resort continues to make remarkable progress, setting new standards in sustainable luxury travel.

Located along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, AMAALA is designed to be a world-class destination, combining natural beauty with cutting-edge eco-friendly innovations. The resort is already creating a buzz among international travelers as it prepares to welcome its first guests in 2025.

Red Sea Global is the developer behind luxury tourist destinations such as the Six Senses Southern Dunes and Thuwal. They are also behind the St. Regis Red Sea Resort and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve that is already open. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) owns Red Sea Global.

AMAALA: A detailed progress update

AMAALA marks a significant advancement in several key areas. These include the Triple Bay Marina Village, The Marina, AMAALA Yacht Club, Corallium, Wellness Core, and the Triple Bay Central. In addition, the construction of the Ocean Golf Course, Primary Infrastructure, and Public Realm and Landscaping is also in progress.

The construction of the Equinox Resort’s concrete structure is nearing completion. This covers its main building, condominiums, as well as its villas. Guests will also be able to use facilities and amenities such as boardwalks, waterfront restaurants, high-end shops, and year-round activities. The Equinox Resort sites in the Triple Bay Marina Village, a research and wellness destination.

Another area nearing competition is the Marina. At the end of 2023, builders finished flooding the marina’s basin. In line with this, Red Sea Global also awarded contracts for floating pontoons and fixed decks.

Red Sea Global has also awarded contracts for the construction of the AMAALA Yacht Club. Concrete works for the club are nearing completion. Meanwhile, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and structural steel works have started.

Steel and façade works have commenced for the Corallium, a marine life institute at AMAAYA. The facility, which will take inspiration from reefs, will facilitate marine research and will be open to visitors.

Superstructures are now standing on 80 percent of the 220 buildings within the Wellness Core. This will include luxury wellness hospitality brands Jayasom and La Prairie.

Constructions are also in progress for resorts and residences within the Triple Bay Central. This includes the Six Senses Southern Dunes and Rosewood, the progress of which has exceeded two-thirds. Façade and MEP works have started for the Four Seasons Resort. This resort will open in 2025.

On the other hand, phase one has already started on the development of the ocean golf course at AMAALA. The amenity will feature three-hole and nine-hole golf courses and a nine-hole executive par 3 course.

Also in progress is the construction of AMAALA’s 35 kilometers of internal roads, electrical, water, irrigation, and communications infrastructure. Red Sea Global hopes to finish these by December 2024.

Also by the end of 2024, Red Sea Global aims to complete finish all public realm and landscaping aspects of AMAALA. This includes the planting of three million plants and trees.

Sustainability at its core

Red Sea Global has awarded 600 contracts amounting to USD 6.13 billion for the AMAALA project’s global partners. It has also secured a partnership with the Saudi Climbing and Hiking Federation and launched its second water aerodome. In 2025, authorities will host the very first Red Sea Marathon.

Upon the completion of AMAALA, it will offer visitors approximately 4,000 hotel rooms from 30 hotels. It will also offer 1,200 apartments, estate homes, and luxury villas.

Sustainability is at the heart of AMAALA’s development. It will source its power from solar energy to save almost 500,000 tons in carbon emissions yearly.
