The Riyadh International Book Fair has emerged as a major cultural event, attracting over 1 million visitors this year. The event was at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center, showcasing a wide array of books, authors, and activities. This made it a must-visit for book lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike.
With its successful turnout and popularity, the book fair’s sales exceeded SAR 28 million. It attracted a diverse demographic, with visitors from different age groups and backgrounds.
Deepening cultural exchange
The Riyadh International Book fair featured literature from around the world, author signings, panel discussions, and cultural performances. Visitors had the opportunity to explore a diverse selection of books, engage with their favorite authors, and participate in insightful discussions. This year’s guest of honor at the Riyadh International Book Fair is Qatar, with its many publishing houses. The Qatar University Press, for instance, participated in the event, with 80 publications under its belt. These span subjects such as philosophy, business management, sociology, Islamic studies, history, academic books, law, and more.
Another impressive feature of the book fair is its five reading zones, under the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission’s supervision. These helped guests interact with authors and fellow book enthusiasts. Moreover, they aided in promoting reading’s role in establishing a knowledgeable society that keeps up with the times.

Among the highlights of the fair was the debut of Abdallah Ali, the youngest Saudi author, who captivated the audience with his inspiring journey into the literary world. His presence at the fair highlighted the emerging talent in Saudi Arabia and inspired many young attendees.
Another special moment was the showcase of rare manuscripts by German publisher Mueller & Schindler. The company specializes in creating faithful reproductions of literary works like the famous Blue Qur’an and Leonardo Da Vinci’s notes.
The event also shone the spotlight on Chinese-Saudi cultural exchange, as royal library Bayt El-Hekma spoke about its translation work. In particular, they discussed their efforts in translating famous Chinese literary works into Arabic. These include classics such as Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” and Luo Guanzhong’s “Three Kingdoms.”
