The Saudi Seasons

Jeddah Season typically takes place during Saudi Arabia’s late spring or summer months.

Spring in Saudi Arabia falls between mid-March to mid-June, while summer falls between June to August.

However, the Jeddah Season 2024 will be extended for one more month, set to run from June to September 2024.

Apart from the Jeddah Season, Saudi Arabia also has 10 seasons such as the Riyadh Season and the Diriyah Season.

These are part of the Saudi Seasons, a series of festivals held in different parts of Saudi Arabia each year.

The Riyadh Season, for instance, runs from October to March, while the Sharqiyah Season happens in spring.

The Aseer Season and the Taif Season, meanwhile, happen from July to August, while the Al Ula Season transpires from November to January.

Lastly, the Diriyah Season takes place from December to March, while the Jeddah Season, as mentioned, happens in the summer months of June to August.

Here’s an overview of the different activities that typically highlight each Saudi Season:

  1. Riyadh Season: Sports and music events, Arabic and international plays, international exhibitions
  2. Jeddah Season: Typically after Eid al Fitr, with entertainment, sports, cultural, and food events. It is held along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast.
  3. Sharqiyah Season: Commonly held for two weeks, featuring water sports, concerts, and more.
  4. Aseer Season and Taif Season: Held during the summer months, these two seasons are marked by Arab music concerts, outdoor art shows, culinary shows, and fashion shows.
  5. Diriyah Season: As the name implies, this season is held at Diriyah, a historical district on the outskirts of Riyadh City. This season focuses on the rich heritage of Diriyah as the first Saudi state, marked by sporting events, live performances, and outdoor activities.

How it all began

The Saudi Seasons was first launched in 2019 by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage to showcase the country’s transformation into a “global cultural exchange and celebration hub.”

The Saudi Seasons’ activities transpire throughout the year, featuring the kingdom’s different natural landscapes, tourist and entertainment attractions, as well as significant historical sites.
