Sports Tower in Riyadh Set to Be The World’s Tallest

The Sports Boulevard Foundation’s (SBF) board of directors has approved the designs for the Global Sports Tower. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman chair the SBF.
The sports tower, which will rise in Riyadh, will become the world’s tallest, standing at 130 meters. It will have an internal area of 84,000 square meters, different sports facilities, and the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall. Apart from these, the sports tower will also have the world’s highest and fully-digitized running track. The track will also have a circuit measuring 250 meters.
The structure’s architectural design follows the Sports Boulevard Design’s code. In line with this, Salmani architecture principles influenced its design. This is characterized by a sense of modernity and originality.
The Sports Boulevard Project
The Global Sports Tower is a key landmark of the Sports Boulevard project. It is a futuristic urban environment measuring over 135 kilometers along the Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road.
The Sports Boulevard is one of the mega projects in Riyadh that was launched on March 19, 2019. It is the undertaking of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The boulevard will link the Wadi Hanifah in the West to the Wadi Al Sulai in the East with green pathways. In addition, these pathways will also be accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, athletes, as well as horse riders. The Sports Boulevard project covers over 4.4 million square meters of greenery and open spaces, with 50 multidisciplinary facilities.
Apart from the inclusion of the sports tower and green spaces, the area will also include investment zones. Moreover, it will have one-of-a-kind attractions, comprising a total of 3 million square meters.
The Global Sports Tower: Supporting Saudi’s Vision 2030
In essence, the construction of the Global Sports Tower supports the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030. By 2030, Saudi Arabia hopes to develop a sustainable and regenerative environment.
Keeping this in mind, the vision for the sports tower is to improve the quality of life in Riyadh. Another objective is to position Riyadh as one of the world’s top 10 economies. In relation to this, experts have also projected Riyadh as as one of the world’s fastest-growing cities by 2033.
