Flynas has broken a record for the first half of 2024.
The Saudi low-cost carrier posted a 47 percent growth in the number of its passengers for the first six months of 2024. Specifically, it served over 7 million passengers on its flights for the year’s first half.
On top of this, Flynas also increased its seat capacity by 37% for its domestic and international flights. According to a statement, this was versus the same period in 2023.
Flynas CEO and Managing Director Bander Almohanna remarked, “Our record performance during the first half of 2024 is driven by our strategic growth plans as we continue to upgrade our fleet, increase capacity, and expand our global network.”
Flynas: Connecting the world to Saudi Arabia
Moreover, Flynas operates under the strategy of “We Connect the World to the Kingdom,” Amohanna added. This aligns with the National Civil Aviation Strategy’s goal of linking Saudi Arabia to 250 international destinations. Apart from this, it also supports the other goals of welcoming 330 million passengers and hosting 150 million tourists yearly by 2030.
Aside from connecting the kingdom to the world, Flynas also aims to enhance pilgrims’ experience.
“Our strategy will also play a key part in driving the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques, successfully transporting more than 100,000 pilgrims from 20 countries in the first half of the year.”
Growing network and fleet
Almohanna explained that Flynas increasing seat capacity for domestic flights to summer destinations can support the tourism sector. This can be achieved by working with different tourism and aviation sectors.
Referring to international flights, Flynas has been growing its network and fleet. The carrier has acquired additional 6 A320neo aircraft, creating new jobs and opening applications for Flynas’ Future Pilots program. Essentially, the airline hopes to fill all co-pilot positions for Saudi nationals by 100%.
“Additionally, our Future Engineers Program has accepted 22 Saudis into its second batch at the beginning of this year, contributing to nationalizing the roles in aircraft engineering and maintenance,” Almohanna pointed out.
More importantly, Flynas obtained 25 new A320neo over the last 18 months. This brings its current fleet to 60 aircraft, a testament to its commitment to growing.
