Nature lovers and luxury travelers are in for a treat as Desert Rock Resort is opening soon.

According to John Pagano, Red Sea Global CEO, it’s only a matter of time until the one-of-a-kind accommodation receives guests.

In a LinkedIn post, Pagano shared how in awe he was with the beauty of Desert Rock in the evenings. For this reason, he exclaimed, “Desert Rock at night is a sight to behold!”

What to expect at Desert Rock

Desert Rock Resort will have 50 villas and 10 rooms built into the rock. These will be at the ground level and in crevices, all featuring a picturesque, unobstructed view of the desert.

Moreover, Desert Rock prides itself on creating an opulent environment that blends seamlessly into the mountains. At night, a special lighting system illuminates the area so guests can gaze at the starry sky.

In addition, the resort will also have state-of-the-art facilities, a world-class spa, remote dining areas, and a lagoon oasis. Roads to the resort are in the main Wadi valley and behind mounds to minimize sound and light pollution.

“As the sole operator of Desert Rock, Red Sea Global is committed to offering luxury that respects and honors the natural surroundings,” Pagano noted.

Designed with sustainability in mind

Desert Rock Resort isn’t just another luxury hotel. It also pays homage to the dramatic desert surroundings.

Oppenheim Architecture is at the helm of designing the luxe stay. The architecture, planning, and interior design firm is based in Miami, New York, and Basel. The company takes pride in creating structures that adapt to its environment.

To achieve the resort’s design, Oppenheim carved it directly into the mountains to blend almost invisibly with the rock formations.  This innovative approach allows guests to feel connected to the environment while enjoying the highest levels of comfort and indulgence.

Desert Rock: Honoring the landscape

An article on designboom notes that Desert Rock is a “true regenerative resort,” with Oppenheim’s sustainable architectural style.

The design meets the highest standards in energy and environmental design, as it reduces energy consumption. Builders made sure to integrate water retention and distribution systems throughout the area.

So as not to waste materials, Oppenheim used the stone from the excavation for the resort’s exterior walls and floors. Additionally, they used ground stone and sand for concrete aggregate, the resort’s primary building material.

“Desert rock is one of the most dramatic desert landscapes in the world, which is why we wanted to use the architecture as a way to honor and respect it,” said Oppenheim Architecture founder Chad Oppenheim.

“By utilizing natural materials and integrating the resort into the rock, guests can connect physically with the destination and experience Saudi Arabia’s stunning, natural beauty.”
