The NEOM Beach Games 2024 concluded with an exhilarating display of athleticism and global collaboration in Saudi Arabia’s futuristic city. Spanning multiple sports disciplines, the event brought together international athletes and audiences for an unforgettable experience. It included the recent NEOM Titan Desert 2024, which brought world-class cycling action to the kingdom.

From November 3-23, the games’ third installment featured elite competitions in triathlon, mountain biking, climbing, basketball, and beach soccer. 1,000 athletes from 71 countries participated, showcasing the event’s growing international reputation and building its prestige.

Present were Olympic gold medalists, triathletes Cassandre Beaugrand and Alex Yee, 3×3 basketballer Worthy De Jong, and speed climber Veddriq Leonardo. Athletes competed amidst NEOM’s breathtaking natural landscapes, which perfectly blended pristine beaches with futuristic infrastructure.

World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup NEOM

The World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup NEOM officially closed the sporting event, gathering 70 athletes from 17 countries. For the finale, 37 male and 33 female swimmers competed, among them two Saudi athletes.

Some of the biggest names present were Paris 2024 Olympics gold and silver medalists Kristof Rasovszky and Moesha Johnson. German Florian Wellbrock won the men’s category, while Moesha emerged victorious in the women’s category.

According to Jan Paterson, NEOM Managing Director of Sport, expressed his pride and gratitude for the successful event.

“Hosting the grand finale of the 2024 World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup is a privilege, and we are grateful for the trust of all of our Rights Holders in collaborating with NEOM to deliver the NEOM Beach Games,” he remarked.

In addition, World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam, shared his gladness with the exciting open water season.

“After an extraordinary international open water season that included the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships, and four thrilling World Cup stops, the season culminates in NEOM for the final race weekend 2024,” he said.

“The competition has never been more intense, with compelling athlete storylines and the overall men’s and women’s World Cup titles set to be decided in the stunning crystal-clear waters of the Red Sea.”
