Saudia made waves in Jakarta with its travel fair, which ran from October 18 to 20, 2024. The event at the Atrium Senayan City aimed to showcase Saudia’s exceptional services and exclusive offers for Indonesian travelers.

Saudia is Saudia Arabia’s flag carrier. At the 2024 Skytrax Awards, it received the award for “World’s Most Improved Airline.” Apart from the World’s Most Improved Airline, Saudia also won Best Economy Class Airline Catering.

Saudia’s “Your Ticket, Your Visa” Service

Saudia remains committed to enhancing travel experiences for Indonesian passengers. The airline has been expanding its presence in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Indonesia. Currently, the airline offers four weekly flights from Jeddah and Madinah. This travel fair is a testament to Saudia’s dedication to providing top-notch services and unique travel packages.

One of the fair’s highlights is the exclusive Umrah and Hajj packages tailored for Indonesian travelers. Saudia introduced the “Your Ticket, Your Visa” service, allowing guests to stay in Saudi Arabia for up to 96 hours and perform Umrah. Additionally, visitors enjoyed various travel perks such as cashback offers, interest-free installments, and lucky draws.

The travel fair also featured cultural performances and informative seminars. Travel agents participated in promoting family vacations and spiritual journeys. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about Saudia’s diverse offerings and the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia.

Faisal Alallah, Saudia Country Manager for Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia, spoke about the event’s significance.

“We are excited to showcase our services, innovations, and destinations at the Saudia Travel Fair,” he remarked. “Saudia has enjoyed a deep-rooted relationship with Indonesia for over 43 years, which was further strengthened by the recent launch of the Medan route, our second destination in Indonesia following Jakarta. This reflects our commitment to becoming a leading global carrier in the region and beyond.”

Saudi-Jakarta Initiatives

The Saudia travel fair is just one of the many programs and projects both countries have collaborated on. For instance, in April 2024, Indonesia expressed its desire to enhance manpower opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.

In a statement, Indonesian Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor said, “We hope that the Saudi Arabian government will provide an even broader work opportunity to Indonesian migrants working in the formal and informal sectors in Saudi Arabia.”

Noor also assured Saudi Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Mudi that the Indonesian government remains committed to achieving mutual goals. With their strategic partnership, both countries would be able to achieve the Saudi 2030 and Golden Indonesia 2045 ambitions.

Meanwhile, in July 2024, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also signed a cooperation agreement to boost their respective intellectual property ecosystems. Under the partnership, the two countries agreed to exchange strategies and best practices to improve their IP networks. Additionally, the agreement also covers information management and human resources training and development.

What’s ahead for Saudia and Saudi Arabia

Saudia is making strides to create a more sustainable aviation experience and transport system. In July 2024, Saudia Group entered an agreement with eVTOL manufacturer Lilium to produce up to 100 jets. It was the largest order yet for eVTOL aircraft. It also cements Saudia’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

The Saudia travel fair is just one of the many ways both countries are solidifying their strategic partnership. Looking ahead, there are exciting prospects for future collaborations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Plans are underway to build an Indonesian Hajj village in Saudi Arabia, providing better facilities for Indonesian pilgrims. It will also serve as a central site for Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims while in the kingdom.

Additionally, the proposed 60 MW floating solar plant in West Java highlights the growing cooperation between the two countries.
